Dr. Michael Linnenbach’s
Layout & Dioramas
Michael’s layout ( only for Trix
Express), is under construction for the last 15 years ! ( How many of us never
finish ?) But when finished will
measure 3.5 x 2.5 meters ( 12 feet x 8 feet ),
in its own special room. Most
of the tracks in this layout are covered by catenary masts with
fully functioning overhead contact lines. In many areas railway routes are
hidden by numerous trees and bushes.
Most of them are made by Michael from natural materials taken from
his garden. Only the areas of the stations, railroad-yards and side-tracks
do not have vegetation.

This view of the layout shows the attention to detail also seen in the dioramas
below |
The view above shows a lake where bathers can enjoy
a summer’s day next to a camping place |
|
|
On the left one can see a brewery and a
roundabout which functions by remote control. In the bottom right, the ends of the platform
for the station at “Gruental” can just be seen. Note: the track is painted with a washable paint enabling the colour
to be removed and the original Trix rail restored if needed in the future. |

Michael also enjoys making realistic dioramas
Some examples are shown below.
These use both Trix Twin and Trix Express
|
|
This diorama is mainly Trix
Express, but note the people on the platform are all from the TTR Britain
series. The yard lamps and the buffer
stop are also the English TTR. |

An
interest in the earlier bakelite track and tin plate buildings led to
constructing the dioramas below
|
|
An English 1950’s TTR 0-4-0
pulls a BR red and cream coach through this tinplate station. Buildings are made by
Kibri, Distler from the early 1950’s. The Yard lamps are also TTR as are the station figures. |

interest in Trix twin and Trix Express
